Most Hon'ble Hazareji

It with great honour and due respect I would like to present before you some of the genuine and painful demands on behalf of the beleaguered  staff of Navodaya vidyalaya Samiti ; staff both in service and the retired. The reason why we wish to meet you is that we find in you the rays of hope as you symbolize today's justice. You inspire many with your vision and true mission. We, the staff of Navodaya Vidyalaya who work round the clock to feed, educate, enlighten the rural talents of Indian villages, who are economically and socially backward, and also who are mostly first generation learners. To uplift them Late prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi started this residential and co-educational education system all over the country, presently there are 600plus such schools. They are located in remote villages which are not properly connected with road, water and power. In such situations staff are working forgetting their kith and kins. Navodayas are the leading school system with 100% pass and 75% above with distinction. It is rare to see any one who completed education from Navodaya remain unemployed or straying. We could make good humans and good citizens with Gandhian values and principles of universal brotherhood. There are lakhs of rural children who could find their self and potential to serve for the cause of nation. This is our contribution to our country in nutshell.

Now our problem- we the staff don't have pension and other retirement benefits of Govt. of India which other employees enjoy. It is heartening to say that though we work average18 hours a day and we are not using the normal holidays except vacations. comparing to any school system or any government department we render service happily, but painfully to say our goodness and sincerity is exploited and we are treated step motherly. This is the only one educational department in India with out pensionery benefits. Many departments which were established later, were provided with retirement benefits though comparatively such institutions are located in urban areas as well as having less working hours.

Parliamentary committees, numerous commissions and ministries of H R D and Pensions and public grievances suggested and supported our cause but finance ministry rejected the proposals.  We knocked every doors for our rights and for the natural justice but all doors were closed by lame and unreasonable reasons. We are denied of our right because we are weak and unorganized. So reach you for justice as stand by with justice.

We conclude here with great hope that you can help us get justice to us.

With lots of unreserved and unconditional thanks.

 I remain

Sincerely Yours

(R.S Nayak )
